Nestled on the border of Uganda and the DRC, the R

Nestled on the border of Uganda and the DRC, the Rwenzori National Park, also known as the "Mountains of the Moon”, boasts some of Africa's most remarkable mountain trekking.

Known locally as The Rainmaker, these mountains are adorned with afro-montane rainforests, unique mountain flora, and alpine-style summits crowned by some of the largest remaining glaciers on the continent.

This trek is not for the faint-hearted, though! While we were incredibly lucky with the weather we experienced, it can be wet and foggy if you time it wrong. It is also a true mountain range with high passes, ridgelines and plenty of valleys, which means it requires a certain level of fitness.

We used the Kilembe trail, which took eight days to summit on the highest point at Margarita Peak on Mount Stanley. Still, the area offers a variety of options for shorter journeys and several other lower peaks to summit.

Whatever route you choose, you are guaranteed an adventure through some unexpectedly stunning scenery!

Kibale National Park is a true gem of Uganda, boasting a community of 120 habituated chimpanzees amidst a wild population of around 1400 chimps.

We are currently en route to climb in the Rwenzori Mountains and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explore this lush park. We spent the morning surrounded by melodies of Turacos and Hornbills calling, as well as the echoing shrieks of the chimpanzees guiding us to their location. Among them, we encountered the dominant male captured in this photo, a powerful figure searching for fruits on the forest floor. We sat in silent admiration for nearly 30 minutes, making eye contact with this extraordinary creature - one of mankind's closest relatives.
