Full Day Soul Food walking tour
Home > Day trips > City and Table Mountain > Full day soul food walking tour
This is an experiential walking food tour of downtown Cape Town. The rainbow culture of the city and the story of South Africa are in the foreground of this experience. This is explored through its traditional and contemporary soul food and the personalities we meet along the way.
The experience includes a walk through the historical Company’s Gardens, while learning about the country’s early colonial history. Here guests can smell, taste and learn about medicinal and culinary plants used by the country’s First People. The walk continues through downtown Cape Town, stopping off at small food vendors. Learn about the development of a new language and culture through biltong and koesusters. And then experience the contemporary soul of the Cape Flats with the Gatsby and bunny chow. No rabbits are harmed in the making of the latter…
Guests are encouraged to step outside their zone of food familiarity and share a plate of umgqushu amidst a throng of Cape Town commuters. Finally, we enjoy global favourites such as fish and chips, artisanal gin, bean to bar chocolate and home-made gelato.
