Cape of Good Hope breakaway

Are you coming to Cape Town? Consider taking an overnight breakaway from the city to explore the Cape of Good Hope with us!

Highlights of this experience include two days of hiking (or running) the trails amidst stunning coastal scenery and indigenous flora. You may also spot chacma baboons, cape mountain zebra, eland, bontebok, red hartebeest, ostrich and the elusive cape clawless otter.

Visit the iconic Cape Point Lighthouse and the Cape of Good Hope while you are in the reserve. And the blockbusting, super highlight: a night in a remote cottage located right on or near the beach. We take care of all meals and logistics while you are busy exploring in remote solitude. Our guides are experts in the fauna and flora of the trails and beaches, enhancing the treasures of this reserve.

En route to or from the reserve, we visit the colony of endangered African penguins at Boulders Beach. Additionally, between July and November there is a good chance of spotting migratory southern right whales.

The breakaway to the Cape of Good Hope is intended to appeal to visitors who enjoy and are familiar with hiking or running in nature.

It is ideal for travellers who want to explore this iconic destination in solitude, away from the crowds and up close.

  • YOU SHOULD KNOW

While the trails are not technical, there is no vehicle support once on the trail to assist guests who no longer wish to participate.

All personal and group equipment is portered to the beach cottage by our team – guests need only hike with a light day pack.

The winter months (June – September) can be cold and wet, but this often does not detract from the beauty of the hikes. December and January can be very windy in the reserve, but again, this does not normally affect hiking.

  • GRADING

The trails chosen for this breakaway can be adapted to varying fitness levels. Generally the coastal trails are steep and rocky with some long stretches of sandy beach on some.

We recommend that hikers have moderate walking fitness and good balance.
